Cinnamon Lemon Cookies

Source:  Great American Recipes (Group 16, card 10)
Makes about 3 dozen cookies, depending on the size.

Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1/4 teaspoon salt
Cinnamon sugar (1/4 cup sugar + 1 teaspoon cinnamon)

1. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar.  Beat in egg and vanilla.

2. Combine flour, cinnamon, baking powder, lemon peel and salt.  Add to butter mixture.  Blend well.

3. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours or until firm

4. Shape dough into small balls, about 3/4-inch in diameter.  Roll in cinnamon sugar to coat.

5. Set cookies 1-inch apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees (F) for 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

6.  Cool slightly on pan, then transfer to racks to cool completely.
